1. You Have to Be A Bestseller to Be Successful as An Authorpreneur
Being An Amazon Bestseller does not mean that you will make much profit as an author or be successful as an author. Though there is “clout” to being on the list, it is more so your marketing strategy that determines your success as an author.
2. You Have to Sell Thousands of Books
There are different categories on Amazon, some are less saturated than others and will impact your likelihood of being number one on the bestseller list greater than other categories. Example, writing a book about cats may have you hitting the bestseller list quicker than a book about another subject, like marketing or leadership, as the ‘cat’ category may not be as popular. Does the reality of a category being less popular than another, resulting in you hitting the list faster than another, meaning that it does not count? No, it does not. It may have been your first book and you hit the bestseller list; you don’t have to have written multiple to hit number one on the list.
3. If You Become A Bestseller, You Will Sell Thousands of Books
Hitting the bestseller list does not mean you have to or will sell many books after. There are no guaranteed sales after being on that list. You still need a marketing plan for your books! Being on the bestseller list may increase your visibility (if you know how to maximize the label). If people decided they want to research a book where your book falls in the category, they are more likely to see it in their search and if they are intrigued by your blurb, a good book cover and the title is relevant, it can lead to purchasing.
