There are many reasons you may have not to write a devotional, but the reasons to write a devotional outweighs the reasons not to. Here are some of these reasons:
- Obedience to God
If you know that you have a story or a message that will impact others, and this is something God has placed on your heart and you want to be purposeful to fulfill your calling, then write your devotional.
2. A Desire to Help Others Grow
Do you have a desire to grow and to help others to do the same? Do you have a desire to help others avoid the mistakes you have made in your own life and want to share with them, the lessons you have learnt throughout your walk of faith to help benefit others? Do you like writing and/or to see how impactful one book can be to the life of many? Then writing a book may be one of the best decisions you will make. Afterall, all the wisdom and knowledge you have garnered from your journey in this life, is not for you to keep to yourself – It helps no one. So why not share and inspire others to grow, to be the best versions of themselves and experience God in a new way by writing a book.
3. Build Your Platform
It is a great way to build your platform as an author and familiarize people with your work, that way persons who know your work are more likely to buy your book when you are ready to publish your “major” message. Additionally, it will help to build your confidence as a writer and aspiring author as you are deliberately putting yourself and your work out there.
4. Grow In Your Faith Walk
Even though a devotional is written for others, it will help you to grow in your own walk with God. Writing a devotional will challenge you to think deeply and pray continuously about what God wants you to share with your readers. It’s what some would call a “win-win”, and when it comes to things done for The Glory of God, everyone wins!’
