Types Of Editing
There are different levels of editing that your manuscript may require in the publishing process, some of which may incur additional charges. It is important that Clients understand the process, and expectations are clear so there is clarity going forward.
Developmental Editing
While these two can be separated, most new Authors require this service. If you are looking for input on the creation of your content itself, developmental editing is a form of collaboration between author and editor.
Developmental editing addresses larger issues, such as the themes, flow, and intention of the book, and includes broader suggestions and revisions to the structure/content, voice, style, and pacing. It does not fully address spelling and grammar issues, as this is done later in the process.
Many first-time authors utilize a developmental editor to assist them throughout the writing process. Added to this service is rewriting, and paraphrasing.
If you believe your manuscript requires this level of editing, an additional charge of US$30 per 1000 words is applicable.
Ghostwriting
You may not be confident that you have captured your thoughts adequately in terms of the content, and may require additional writing to aid in flow, and connecting the thoughts together. This service can also be added to the Publishing Package at a rate of US$60 per 1000 words.
Heavy & Line Editing
This is the normal editing process for completed manuscripts and is included in the publishing cost.
At this level, your manuscript will go through an in-depth editing process, addressing grammar, spelling errors, use of punctuation, paragraphs, reducing long sentences to shorter sentences and minor paraphrasing and rewriting. We will not move around sentences, or change your content at this level, so you must be sure that the manuscript you send to us is already structured the way you want it to be structured.
At this level, your manuscript will go through two-three rounds of editing, but the structure and content of your manuscript will not be changed.
This type of editing is including in your package, but we typically charge US$10 per 1000 words for this service
Proofreading
This is the final stage of the editing process. This is the most basic form of editing and addresses only typos and objective grammatical errors. Only well-written manuscripts, already edited, are ready for proofreading. This service is included in the publishing cost.

At DayeLight Publishers Limited, development & structural editing or ghost writing is NOT included in the publishing packages. We try to maintain the voice of the client (author) and offer assistance on how to properly convey their story. However, we do offer these options at an additional cost as stated previously.
